Seorak (설악산)

Seorak is a forested national park in the mountains just south of the inner Korean border, near Sokcho on the Eastern coast. Due to its proximity to Seoul, it is a popular weekend destination. It also has the reputation of being one of the most beautiful national parks. It is typical of Korean topography that you're never far from the mountains and never far from the sea. Sokcho is a fishing town, from where you reach Seorak by a local bus. In October, when the leaves start to change colour, National parks like Seorak are particularly well-visited.
