"Whisky Village" is Ban Xang Hai, a village about halfway between Luang Prabang and the Pak Ou Caves, where all the river boats stop. The people in this village make handicrafts, mostly hand-woven cloth and Lau Lao (a rice spirit). You can watch the women weaving and at least you get the feeling that all the strange cloth for sale on the Hmong market in Luang Prabang is actually not made in (nearby) China but really handmade stuff from the locals. Newer features in the village make it obvious that sales are good.
